AFC Westend  V  Lyne F.C

Well the day didn’t start great again this week, with a cross country athletics event being organised on the same green as the match was to take place and the nearest parking spot you could get near the ground was in the next county! (Not AFC Westend fault as they was effected as well as us and also had no knowledge of the event happening)

Why do people do all that running without a football?

On not such a great surface the game commenced with Lyne exerting the early pressure and was rewarded after only five minutes. The goal came from a well delivered Felipe corner which was finished well by JT.

The game then settled and Lyne looked comfortable in all departments, but it took another twenty minutes before goal number two came. On thirty minutes Jake played a great ball through to Felipe who once again unleashed the right peg thundering the ball into the back of the net.

0-2 Lyne

Then once again just before half time Lyne gifted AFC with a goal leaving the score line at 2-1 and game on at half time.

1-2 Lyne HT

The half time team talk was one of disappointment conceding once again in a match through some not so great decision making.

The second half started and Lyne looked more on it, doing their jobs more efficiently and it seemed with more confidence.

Lyne was in control and extended the lead on 63 when Felipe delivered a ball into the box which was met by Jordan who made no mistake in putting this one away!

1-3 Lyne

Then in the 86th Minute a tremendous through ball from Jerome landed with Ollie with still a lot to do. But with a great touch and rounding of Keeper Ollie finished well.

Final score Lyne F.C 4-1 AFC Westend

This game answered a lot of question for us, with the biggest one being when the surfaces are not so good can we deal with it? Answer YES WE CAN!

A brilliant game played by the lads who showed good character and maturity in the way they played in the difficult conditions.

Massive thanks to AFC Westend for their welcome and hospitality.

The squad: James, Jerome, JT (1), Ashley, Oat, Josh, Luke, Felipe © (1), Fudge, Ryan E, Bondy, Jordan (1), Stuart, Jake, Ollie (1)

Star man : Jake with seven others nominated.

Next up away to Shalford.
