Match report: Lyne F.C  V  Manorcroft United

This was a match that Lyne F.C was looking forward to for all the right reasons. In our last encounter with Manorcroft United it was a close match and played in the right manor which is enjoyable for the players and spectators alike. You just knew before the K.O both teams was going to try and play the right way with no thuggery or attitude and that was exactly how the script  played out.

The first ten minutes of the match was very even with both sides having their opportunities on goal, but neither team grabbed the match by the scruff of the neck and took their opportunities.

On 20 minutes Lyne changed shape a little, transforming into a 4-4-2 to try and put more pressure on the Manorcroft defensive line.

The game was evenly balanced and on the 25th minute mark one of our recent signing (Adam) struck a great ball home to give the home team the advantage.

1-0 Lyne

The remainder of the first half remained evenly balance but Lyne was shading things with possession.

HT 1-0 Lyne.

A big team talk at half time came from Lee and Ian with an abundance of coaching points to take into the second half.

The second half started and Lyne grabbed hold of the game, creating opportunity after opportunity. This pressure was rewarded on the 60 minute mark when young Jake decided to add that bit of quality we was waiting for. Jake drove inside from the right flank and unleashed a worldy from 25 out top bins.

  • 2-0 Lyne

Just five minutes later Jordan decided to add to our goal tally off of the back of a great run from his brother Ryan and wait for it…………..Jordan scoring with his left peg……Blimey…. I’m sure that’s right?

3-0 Lyne

As Lyne took control of the game Lyne unloaded their fresh leg players from the bench, this ignited play once more leading to a fab strike from distance. This time it was Fudge who struck the ball sweetly into the back of the net.

4-0 Lyne

Lyne continues to see out the remainder of the half constantly putting more and more pressure on the Manorcroft defence but alas no more goals were forthcoming.

Final score 4-0 Lyne.

This was an outstanding performance against a very good Manorcroft side. Lyne showed their quality in depth with all 15 players who took to the pitch yesterday contributing to a brilliant win.

Just a reminder that Lyne have not lost in open play in 21 encounters… not bad!

Seven more points on the board and the League title is ours.

The squad: Kendall, Oat, Ashley, Tom, Ryan, Jake (1), Luke, Felipe ©, Josh, Adam (1), Jordan (1), Stuart, Ollie, Hitz, Fudge (1).

Star man this week goes to Luke.
