Chertsey Old Salesian V Lyne F.C (League)
Chertsey Recreation ground where the match was played I had previously visited a few weeks ago when our under 11’s played a 9v9 game on it.
This shows how small the pitch was we had to play on, but all said and done it was the same for both sides. This sort of pitch is what we call a leveller that effectively dilutes the quality of football that can be played on it.
As you can imagine the pitch was very congested with very little space to play the game as it should be but Lyne adjusted formation and shape to try and get the best out of the situation.
The first 30 mins of the first half Lyne F.C were very flat and gave the ball away cheaply on many occasions added to this Lyne had no immanence about them to regain possession when lost. It was frustrating to watch with the only advantage I suppose that Chertsey very rarely threatened our goal.
The first half ended 0-0 not helped by the congestion and lack of space.
The half time team talk was all about getting back up to speed and generally up it all over the pitch.
The second half commenced and an improvement was there to see, for the first 30 minutes we bossed the game with possession but the goal just wasn’t coming.
In the last 15 minutes both sides had good penalty shouts with Lyne’s being dismissed and Chertsey’s being given. If it wasn’t for a fantastic save by Kendall in the sticks the result would not a reflected the game.
Our congratulations go to Chertsey old Salesians who was worthy of taking the first points off us this season.
The squad: Kendall, Oat, JT, Ashley, Tom, Jake, Felipe ©, Fudge, Ryan, Adam, Jordan, Luke, Josh, Ollie.
Star man: goes to Kendall for keeping the outcome of the game scoreless with a great penalty save.
Next up is Guildford Rangers @ Meadhurst 2pm K.O Saturday 12th March.
Lyne F.C needs six more points from the next 4 matches to clench the League title!
Come on lads lets finish what we started!!!!!
