2015 round-up for our new men’s team.
How it started:
On the 21st April 2015 the idea of a Lyne Men’s was conceived and within a week a management team was formed to drive the project on.
Recruitment started with a vengeance and we found ourselves in a position that we could hold our first ever training session on the 11th May.
The management team from this point continued to recruit and continued to train until our first ever Lyne F.C men’s competitive friendly on the 14th June.
Lyne F.C had a mixed bag of results, but to those that know football and the levels within it they would say what a decent pre-season that is!
Of our 9 pre-season fixtures we have only played teams from our level or higher and in many cases much higher.
Dunsfold and Farnham park are about the level we are in the football pyramid and our stats on those two games was won 2, for 10, against 1
The next level up we played was Worplesdon A from the Surrey Intermediate Premier Reserves League with result being 2-1 win for Lyne.
Yet another level up we played a very good Sheerwater Reserves outfit from the Surrey Elite Reserves League and came unstuck on this occasion losing 5-2. The sheerwater reserves team are currently sitting top of their respective League and I have no doubt they will be there at the end of the season.
Next up the pyramid we took on Worplesdon Phoenix from the Surrey Intermediate Division 1 in which Lyne ended up with a victory of 3-0.
Now reaching the dizzy heights of the Surrey Intermediate Premier we took on a very good side in Royal Holloway Old Boys and once again Lyne F.C ended up with another victory 2-1
Enter the boys from Combine Counties 1 yet another level up again, first up was Worcester Park, and if it wasn’t for some indifferent goalkeeping (Not from one of our resident goalkeepers I may add) the score line would have been so much different from Lyne showing a 5-1 lose.
The second of the Combine Counties 1 teams that we took on was Frimley Green, in a mid-week match under light in which Lyne put in a fantastic performance and beat them 3-1.
Last but not least we took on a Combine Counties Premier outfit, Spelthorne Sports. We proved to hold our own against a very strong side and were 1-0 up at half time but even though we continued to threaten the Spelthorne goal in the second half we ended up losing 3-1 to what should be a much superior side.
Lyne F.C have played 9 of their 16 League games and currently sit top of the Guildford and Woking Alliance Premier Division. With victories in all 9 matches, scoring 32 goals in the process and only 9 goals scored against them.
Lyne F.C is very pleased to their start to the League program and will be looking to push on in 2016 with the potential to secure the Premier title.
Lyne F.C has made it through the first three rounds of the Surrey F.A Junior Cup. In the first round we came up against Millmead who Lyne convincingly beat 9-1. Next up was Merton social who Lyne beat narrowly with a score line of 3-2. And our last appearance was against LM United in which Lyne came out victors once again with a score 4-2. Lyne now look forward to another home draw on the 9th January against Burpham.
Once again Lyne F.C is very pleased with their progression in the County Cup and we are very positive about the potential to go further in the competition.
Lyne F.C is yet to start their league cup campaign but the first round is on the 16th January and we have been drawn against University of Surrey.
The Lyne F.C squad have become a very tight outfit on and off the field of playing and their loyalty to each other and the Club is unquestionable. Over the last few weeks we have strengthened the squad further by the very positive additions of Bondy and Adam. Lyne will continue to look for the right fit players going forward but at this point in time we feel we have the right players to get the job done!
The management team:
The management team is very similar to the squad itself, a group of mature football heads who all contribute massively individually and collectively to this successful squad of players.
The aim of the squad is very simple, and that is to move up the levels/Pyramid of football as quickly as possible and continues to improve as a group week in week out.
Our needs going forward:
Our needs going forward are very simple, Lyne F.C has the knowhow and contacts to move up the levels but we will need football mad sponsors to help us achieve our full potential. These potential sponsors we are reaching out for we would like to invite to be a major part of the men’s team going forward. Anyone who may be interesting in sponsoring the men’s team and willing to come on the journey please feel free to make contact firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss options.
Your contact would be most welcomed!
So a roundup of 2015 for Lyne F.C would be;
Since the 8th August this year Lyne F.C are unbeaten (won) 17 straight matches, scoring an amazing 63 goals and only conceding 18, sitting top of the Premier League and are in the fourth round of the County Cup! Not a bad 2015 I would say!
Lyne F.C men’s section would like to wish every member of the club, Parent and extended families a fantastic Christmas and very Happy New Year !
See you in 2016
