I don't normally go on about luck but we were really unlucky today! Burghfield who were in the top division last season and to be honest are good enough to be there this season, are top of are league, and gave us a lesson in finishing.
The game was pretty even and going up the slope 1st half we took an early lead with a good move . We had given a good account of ourselves until we switched off just before half time and allowed them a bit of time on the ball, which ended with one of them curling in an equaliser from outside the box. Other chances went begging for us as we couldn't finish.
HT 1-1
In the 2nd half we were down the slope and got in a few times but no end product. Then we let a long ball bounce failed to clear and they got in for 2-1
We then missed an open goal as the ball somehow took a nasty bobble an eluded us a well earned equaliser.
After that Burghfield defended well and got a breakaway right at the end for 3-1.
However this was a test for us and I'm pleased we gave a good account of ourselves, we know where we went wrong and are already relishing the return fixture later on in the season.
