Lyne Lynx U’16 team played in the Ashford Town Tournament U16-U18’s last Sunday – and they won it!

The Lynx team played against a mixture of ages and team including Ashford Town, NPL (U16’s and U18’s), Kew Association (U18’s), Conquest Academy, Staines Albion and Send FC.

The boys topped their group wining two and drawing two with goals from James Goodey, we beat Kew AFC in the quarter final 2 -0 (scorers James Goodey and Ryan Cooke), then faced NPL U 18’s in the semi-final and beat them 1 -0 (scored by Ryan Cooke) much to the joy of the boys who played brilliantly.

The final was against Ashford Town FC U17-18’s. The game was 0-0 after 12 minutes and the 0-0 after 5 minutes extra time so we had a penalty shoot-out. Ryan Cooke scored the first, then James Goodey scored, then Cameron Clark, then Dan Telford and final Jack Vincent, we won 5 -4 as Ryan Herbert saved one of Ashford Towns penalties, with Oliver Richards supporting as he did not have to take a penalty.

The boys were a credit to Lyne FC, and knowing they are not playing next season as a team but they wished to represent Lyne FC to finish off their season.

Well done the Lynx team.

Also as an added note, Duncan part of the management team of the Lyne team has just undergone heart surgery and is recovering well, everyone at Lyne F.C would like to wish Duncan a speedy recovery.
