Match report: Lyne F.C V Weysiders F.C
Well on what could be only call a very damp day at Jubilee, the pitch couldn’t have been in better condition with the ball able to zip off of the surface.
After gaining promotion as champions of the Guildford and Woking Alliance premier division last season we had no idea what level of football we were going to presented with in The Surrey County Intermediate League (Western)
The match started as many do very even with both sides in the first five minutes seeing plenty of the ball and feeling their way into the game. Following the first five minutes Lyne F.C starting to take control of the match and retain long periods of possession.
We had to wait 15 minutes for that possession to pay dividends with Ben Placito opening our account with a well taken shot from 10 yards .
The second come on 20 minutes with Adam Fearn converting from fairly close range.
The third was only four minutes later with Adam Fearn once again finishing well to complete a brace of goals.
Then with what I can only call a wonder goal, Weysiders midfielder received the ball five yards in his own half and hit the ball sweetly towards our goal. The ball was hit so cleanly it left the Lyne goalkeeper with no chance of any type of save attempt. Fantastic vision and well executed strike!
Not long after the Weysiders wonder goal the match changed somewhat when Jordan Esprit was through on goal and the weysiders centre Half had no option but to take action. The action was to take Jordan down just outside the box leaving the referee no alternative but to show a red card to the defender and give a direct free kick to Lyne. The resulting free kick was smashed into the back of the net by our captain Felipe Lima.
Five minutes before half time Weysiders dragged another back off of the back of a rare Lyne defensive error.
With only a minute of the first half left on the clock Jordan Esprit sprang into action once more with a great finish.
Half Time 5-2 Lyne
The second half was all about Lyne, with Weysiders down to ten men it was pretty much one way traffic for the whole half but to be fair the Weysiders team got behind the ball and made themselves difficult to break down.
Lyne however did break them down with only two minutes on the clock of the second half with yet another goal from Jordan Esprit.
We had to wait some 15 minutes before the next one which come by way of Ben Placito with a well taken strike.
The day was completed with a driven ball in a wide area from Ben which was in such a dangerous area the Weysiders defender had to deal with it. Unfortunately the ball came off of the defender for an own goal.
Final Score 8-2 Lyne
