Match report: Lyne F.C V Woking & Horsell F.C (Reserves) Semi-Final of County Cup.
This was always going to be a tough match and that’s exactly what is was, both sides keen to get to the County Cup final and both teams willing to give it everything!
The match started very lively and chances were being created at both ends of the field, but with both defences in top form and both keepers pulling out saves we were in for a long day.
Well I say both keepers which isn’t quite true as our keeper (Kendall) was away visiting his parents in Scotland and Jerome normally in our defensive line picked up the gloves.
The first half finished as it started with a 0-0 score line.
The second half started and was much of the same to be honest with both teams pushing for a goal without any success.
FT still 0-0
1st half of extra time you could see both teams getting a little leg heavy added to that both becoming a little impatient to get the job done.
This impatient was leading to frustration and you just sensed the cards were going to be brandished and it was just a case of what colour and against what side.
Well the cards did come out and it was a straight red for a verbal exchange with the referee leaving Woking and Horsell down to ten men and one of their key players walking off the pitch.
1ST Half of extra time still 0-0
The second half of extra time Lyne had to take full advantage of the extra man and they did with a great little flick from Ollie who dispatched Jordan goal bound, Jordan tucked it away perfectly to give Lyne the advantage and only nine minutes left on the clock.
Lyne had to be well disciplined to see the game out and as usual didn’t disappoint by keeping the score at 1-0 to the final whistle.
Total respect goes out to Woking and Horsell who were a constant threat and the outcome could have been so much different if either side took their early opportunities.
The squad: Jerome, Oat, David, Ashley, Tom, Josh, Luke, Felipe ©, Fudge, Ryan, Jordan, Stuart, Joe, Jake, Ollie, Adam.
Star man this week was stand in Goalkeeper Jerome with a well-deserved clean sheet!!
So Lyne march into the final to be held at Westfield F.C in Woking on Thursday 31st March.
In-between now and then though we have a League to win!
Well done lads.
Big thanks to all that helped on the day, looking after FA officials, making some food and generally helping to allow us to get the team ready for action!!
