Shalford F.C  V  Lyne F.C (14 wins on the bounce)

Well for a change the match day started well apart from the constant rain, all players arrived on time and one of our two player’s needing a fitness test was given the all clear to play by Richard (physio)

Warm-up went well with all players seemed to be sharp and on it as they say, so all looking good.

The match commenced and Lyne came out the blocks early, putting pressure on and asking questions of the Shalfords defence for a good 10 minutes.

The 11th minute came and Lyne were rewarded for their pressure by way of a well taken goal by Jake from an equally well delivered assist by Felipe.

  • 1-0 Lyne

You didn’t have to wait long for goal number two, on 13 minutes a peach of a goal came from the head of Jordan and once again delivered by our Captain Felipe.

  • 2-0 Lyne

Lyne then settled down to play what we would say is some our best possession football of the season, but alas ground hog day happened again with Lyne conceding in yet another match just before the half time whistle.

Lyne 2-1 @ Half Time

It’s crazy to be honest why we keep on doing this to ourselves just before half time, it’s as if the lads want to tee up a more interesting second half in every game where as the coaching team would sooner see the lads showing an improved game management and see first halves out with a clean sheet!

Oh well though, Lyne were playing well apart from conceding, so not too bad.

Lyne was asked to go out and make an impact on the second half and that is exactly what they done. This time from a corner delivered by Felipe once again which was met well and put away by JT with only one minute on the clock of the second half.

Lyne 3-1

From this point Lyne took control of the game but there were a couple of scary moment when Shalford could have scored especially with one open header from eight yards that somehow the Shalford striker thankfully missed.

The game was finished in the 65th minute when Jake completed a brace of goals on the day with a very accomplished finish to make the final score 4-1 Lyne.

The match was played in a relentless rain shower on a sticky but decent size pitch which we feel we see some of our best football this season and came out worthy winners.

Our thanks go out to Shalford for their hospitality and we would like to wish all at Shalford an enjoyable season.

The squad: James, Jerome, David, JT (1), Oat, Jake (2), Luke, Felipe ©, Fudge, Ryan, Jordan (1), Stuart, Ollie, Josh, Ben, Hitz.

Star man: Well-deserved by Jake for the second week running!!

Next up LM United in the Surrey County Cup on Saturday 21st November, 2pm K.O @ Meadhurst Club.
