Lyne F.C V Shalford F.C
Well here we go chasing our tenth successive victory in a row, this time against a very good Shalford F.C side.
This Lyne F.C home fixture had to be played at a not so good Egham Leisure centre because our home pitch at Meadhurst had already been pre-booked at the point we received the fixture.
Lyne F.C Apologised to Shalford prior to this game taking place and explained the situation (This was purely out of curtesy as Lyne F.C has standard for playing surfaces and Egham Leisure centre doesn’t reach them standards)
Added to that six into three don’t go as it was proved when six teams being serviced by three pitches but alas only three changing rooms!
Right rant over, football begins.
Lyne came out of the blocks very early in this one, maybe because we had the team photo shoot a couple of hours prior giving all players the chance to wake up fully and get their heads right for the match. Lyne piled on the pressure creating chance after chance in the first ten minutes, but it was if we couldn’t buy a goal at one point. On 11 minutes that all thankfully changed with a great delivery from Fudge which was met by Jordan in the box who headed neatly away to give Lyne the lead.
- 1-0 Lyne
Lyne continued to pile on the pressure and after some 20 minutes could have been at least 6 for the better, but for some unknown reason our shooting boots hadn’t be delivered in time for this one it seemed.
With 22 minutes gone Oat delivered an excellent waited through ball to Jordan who calmly slotted away to make it
Lyne seemed in full control of the game until our honorary weekly five minute blip kicked into play, within that blip period Lyne was punished and conceded a goal at a critical time.
HT 2-1 Lyne
So what seemed to be a bit of a cruise for Lyne has now took on a completely different feel whereby Shalford suddenly have something to build on with a new belief.
The usual good team talk at the halfway point took place in which emphasis was put on taking away Shalford belief early doors and finish the match off.
Lyne came out in the second half very similar to the first, taking the game to Shalford at every opportunity, yet it would take until the 51st minute for Lyne to get their rewards.
This goal was a bit of an odd one really as Shalford conceded a free kick just outside the box, Lyne made a hasting substitution bringing Felipe back on to the field of play only for him to riffle to ball straight into the back of the net.
Only two minutes later tom delivered a great cross field ball which was met perfectly by an oncoming Oat who put the opportunity away well with a great header.
At this point the game was pretty well won and it was just about doing the right things until the final whistle was blown.
FT 4-1 Lyne
I think it’s fair to say Lyne very much deserved this victory which was played in good spirits by both sides, but on not such a good pitch.
Our thanks go out to Shalford who was a great bunch of people and we very much look forward to visiting them on their patch in the coming weeks.
The squad: James, Oat (1), David, Ashley, Tom, Josh, Luke, Felipe © (1), Fudge, Ryan, Jordan (2), Stuart, Hitz, Jake, Ben, Luca.
Star man this week goes to Jordan for two great finishes and one assist.
Next week we have a week off from competitive football, but we believe the lads are doing a team building type day at football golf.
Next match is Merton in the County Cup on the 24th October , this will be a 12noon KO @ Meadhurst.
