Well done to all. Runners up in the Aldershot 5 aside tournament.
This week saw us head off to the Aldershot 5 aside tournament played on 3G pitches, a new experience for us not having played competitive matches on 3G before. The team consisted of Archie, Harry T, Liam, Dominic,Ryan (goalkeeper), Pavan, Arjun. This gave us 2 subs that were needed on a hot and sunny Sunday afternoon.
Our first match saw us against Hawley Reds, a good solid performance by all which resulted in a 1-1 draw. Our goal scorer being Dominic. The next match saw us up against Aldershot. Another good solid performance which saw both teams holding out for a 0-0 draw. Our next match saw us play our old friends Farnham Blues. A few changes in the team to give players a rest from the blistering sun and we came out as 1-0 winners. Goal being scored by Archie. Our final group match saw us up against Dara Blues and resulted as a 0-0 draw. All the matches were being played at speed and at a fast tempo and subs were used to give players a rest so we could constantly have a few fresh legs for each match. We finished the group stage with 1 win and 3 drawn which saw us finish 3rd in our table so into the plate we went. The plate consisted of 5 teams playing each other and the top team in the table were the winners. No final or semi final just a league table.
We were 3rd match on which gave us a chance to have a little break. Our match saw us up against Dara Whites. With some attacking moves right from the start we took an early lead with a Pavan goal. As the match went on we pushed up a little too much and gave Dara a chance which they took and it was 1-1. With a surge of energy we pushed up and kept attacking going all out for a win. In the dying seconds we made a cross which Pavan or was it Dominic got afoot on and was just going to tap the ball in for a goal only for the ref to blow the whistle for full time. We were robbed and no one could believe it so we had to settle for a 1-1 draw. Our next match saw us up against Farnham Blues. Attacking full on football played by both teams which saw the match finish 0-0. A couple of matches before we were back on gave the boys a well earned rest. We were back on and our next match saw us playing Hawley Reds. Another full on fast tempo match which saw us come away as 1-0 winners with the goal being scored by Dominic. Our final match and all to play for saw us up against Farnham Reds. Some really great play and going all out for a win saw us attack after attack and we came away as 1-0 winners with the goal being scored by Harry. End of matches saw us with 2 wins and 2 draws. A little wait to see where we finished. We had 8 points only to be beaten by Farnham Reds on 9 whom we had beaten in our last match. If only it wasn’t for the ref calling full time in one of our earlier matches when we were about to score we would have been winners.
A really great performance by all 7 players today, Ryan in goal, Harry, Liam and Arjun sharing defence and Pavan, Archie and Dominic in attack. A truely allround performance with all players supporting each other and a great aptmophere created. Really proud of the way you all played your parts in a hot and long afternoon, you all earned your runners up medals with all your hard work. What also makes it a great achievement is that the team consisted of 3 under 11s playing in an under 12s tournament. Well done to the u12s and u11s. A big thank you to all parents and relatives for all your support it made it an enjoyable afternoon and a great feeling to come away with. Thank you all.

Well done from all at Lyne F.C
